R.I.P. Dean of the Faculty of Law Professor Viktor Ivanovich Tsyganov

We regret to inform you that the dean of the Faculty of Law, Head of the Department of Labor and Environmental Law, Professor Viktor Ivanovich Tsyganov died in the fifty-first year of his life. ⠀⠀

The whole life of Viktor Ivanovich was connected with the law faculty of UNN. In 1996, he graduated with honors from the full-time department of the Faculty with a degree in Jurisprudence and entered the postgraduate course at the Department of Theory and History of State and Law, starting an active teaching career. In 2000, he brilliantly defended his Ph.D. thesis on the topic “The idea of Russian autocracy and its development in the works of L.А. Tikhomirov “. The issues of understanding the philosophical heritage of Russian conservative lawyers became the central theme of his scientific work. ⠀⠀

Viktor Ivanovich is the author of over 70 scientific and educational publications. More than one generation of law students studied the theory of state and law using the textbook of Viktor Ivanovich. ⠀⠀

The outstanding organizational abilities of Viktor Ivanovich were early appreciated by the leadership of the university. In 1998, at the age of 26, he was appointed Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law for educational work, since 2000 – for academic work, since 2006 – for scientific work. From 2007 to the present, he was the permanent dean of the law faculty of the UNN. ⠀⠀

Viktor Ivanovich had a great influence on the formation and development of many generations of students, teachers and scientists, contributed to the advancement of legal science, made an invaluable contribution to the development of the faculty and Lobachevsky University. The faculty became the leading law school in the region: new specialties and departments appeared, the number of students increased every year. ⠀
